Alma / Primo Migration & Training Guide

Alma Single-Sign-On Authentication

NOAA SSO has been implemented for Alma. While Single Sign will be enabled, IP authentication is still a requirement for SSO.

The NOAA Alma SSO login page is https://noaa.alma.exlibrisgroup.com/SAML

If you are unable to view the Alma login page itself, and are not redirected login to Alma using NOAA's SSO, this likely means you have not provided NOAA's Alma / Primo admins your IP addresses. If this is the case, email jeff.rey@noaa.gov.

Primo Single-Sign-On VE Authentication

NOAA Single Sign On for NOAA staff (Federal Employees and Contractors).

If someone is having trouble logging in with SSO:

  • We have an Alma/Primo SSO Troubleshooting guide for the most error messages and resolutions
  • If the patron does not have a user account in Alma/Primo yet, we can manually register the account
(see the Patron Registration page of this LibGuide)
    • New patron accounts are typically created automatically via the Patron Load process within one week of email activation
  • We should make sure that the patron's noaa.gov email is listed in the Identifiers tab of their user record in the "Alternate ID 1" field.
    • This email should match the email listed in the "Subject Alternative Name" field in the certificate in their staff directory record.
    • The certificate they select when logging in should match the certificate in their directory record.
  • If the patron cannot use SSO and we cannot remediate the issue, then as a backup method we may be able to be able to set up a manual login and password
